With only three days to go for registration of ongoing projects, the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) has kept a technical back-up team ready and extended office timings to take care of last-minute updates.

Till July 28, MahaRERA has received 3,256 applications from developers and 5,842 applications from real estate agents.

Builders are rushing to get their projects registered with the authority as the three-month window period, since the law was enacted, comes to an end on July 31. With an estimated over 10,000 projects in the state, there are many talukas that have not even registered their logins ahead of the registration process.

As MahaRERA is set to take actions against builders not registering their projects, the developer's associations are trying to help the members to meet the deadline. Nearly 8,427 developers have readied user IDs and the authority expects the same number of registration till July 31.

MahaRERA secretary Vasant Prabhu told TOI on July 28 that the number was increasing and staffers of the office have asked to work an extra hour in the morning and evening for the next three days. "Though the documents can be uploaded during any time of the day, there will be queries during the process. We have requested our staffers to work an hour extra because we expect the maximum number of registration in the next three days," he said.

The RERA authorities have also pointed out that nearly 200 talukas have not yet registered even one project, prompting them to talk to the town planning department in the respective areas and get in touch with the builder's groups.

Maharashtra Credai President Shantilal Kataria said, "There are now provisions to make corrections after the uploading process. We are urging all the developers to register with MahaRERA. The response is good and we expect it to get better in the next three days."
