How have 'Elevator Technologies' changed with time?

In the last few years, elevator industry has witnessed several technological advancement. Companies are introducing new features in order to make the traffic movement easy. Here we look at some of the major changes that elevator industry has witnessed:

MRL technology

Real estate developers are increasingly preferring gearless & machine-room-less (MRL) elevators over the traditional elevators which require machine room on top of the building. This offers them more flexibility to design the building, and ensures an overall saving in cost and time for our customers.

By confining smaller, more compact components in the hoist way the elevator machine room space is eliminated.

Gearless technology

The compact ACVF gearless machines are compact and run on AC current. It use micro- processors which are highly energy efficient as compared to conventional geared motors.

In gearless machine, the motor rotates the sheave directly. In geared machine, the motor turns a gear train that rotates the sheave.

New gearless motor requires lower driving force torque due to lower traction sheave diameter. This also reduce the motor weight to less than half which saves precious resources.

Control Drives

New generation VVVF drive are installed inside the shaft because of its compact size.

The closed loop position drive system constantly monitors the elevator motion and if necessary corrects the levelling of the elevator car based on the predefined accuracy.

Suspension Traction Media (STM)

Suspension Traction media replace conventional steel ropes. In STM, Twilled steel cables surrounded by polyurethane coating.

Traction media are flexible and use much smaller sheave diameter. Requiring much smaller motor. A design that saves space and energy.

No oil for lubrication is needed.

Modern Car Operation Panel (LOP)

New generation car operating panels are sleeker and aesthetically more appealing.

Stylish & modern glass panel are equipped with touch sensitive buttons which make navigation more clear & easy.

Elevator Interior

Today's Elevator interiors have a wide range of materials and styles, it offers maximum freedom of design and ensure seamless integration with a building's architectural concept.

Unlike the old age elevator cabin, new cabin interior designs can be made with Stainless steel, Back-painted glass, painted finishes, wood etc.

Transit Management System

From the 1940s to today, elevator call systems have operated on a single, uniform principle, the up-and-down hall push-button. These systems are known today as conventional technology.

Over the last decade, new techniques in controlling elevators have radically changed thinking about how building mobility is organized and operated.

With new destination control system optimizes travel within buildings & thus leads to reduction in energy consumption. The new generation, revolutionary transit management system – now interconnects the entire building & provides architects with new possibilities in traffic management and security planning.
